A flexible disk is more usually known as a floppy disc and they were a feature of all early personal computers as larger computers as well. They have such small capacities that they have been replaced by hard disks, optical disks and USB based storage.

The discs were considered to be storage rather than input or output. However, the disc drive that handled the disc can be thought of as an input and an output device.
