Right click on the shortcut, change it's name. Right click on the shortcut, select properties, and change what the icon looks like.

Click File Then click Properties in the drop down list. The Properties box gives information on the dates of creation and modifications, who the document is assigned to. It will also give statistics as the number of words, useful for exam papers when they ask for an essay of say 5000 words.
click ribbon to expand, go to Prepare - Inspect Document

To display the document panel in Microsoft Excel click the Menus tab, then click the file drop down menu, and there you will find the View Document Properties link.

Open Windows Explorer, find the document file, right-click the file, click Properties, and click on the Read Only checkbox to remove the existing X. Close 'er up and starting editing your document.
I had this very same question. The answer it turns out was quite simple. 1. Open Word 2. Right click in the menu bar across the top of word (just below the document name) 3. If the Ribbon is minimized you will see a check next to "minimize the ribbon" 4. Highlight and click the "Minimize the Ribbon" selection. The check mark is gone and the ribbon is back.
