if there is another port you can plug the pen drive into, try that. That will elimitate the port as the problem. If you have another computer available, try the pen drive in another computer. If it works, it's not the drive.
I don't think you can. If it's a digital tape recorder, you can always transfer the file to a computer and then from the computer to the pen drive.

I'm a little confused by your wording but if you mean that the movie is saved on the pen drive, then yes; it can be viewed by a program on your computer. although, if the movie was saved on your computer and the program for viewing it was on your pen drive, that would technically still work; however complicated.
A pen drive has to be safely removed because there might be documents that are opened on the pen drive that might require to be saved on the drive. If you don't safelty remove the drive you might end up blacking the computer out.
