Yes PLUG N PLAY features in Operating Systems enable automatically configuration of adaptor cards and other peripherals as users plug or install them.

The port is an external connection device on the computer which is used to connect different peripherals. Concretely it is a socket (and the corresponding plug) that enables an external device (peripheral) to be attached to a computer (usually to a motherboard or adapter card).

Just like you would if you were configuring a laptop or desktop computer with an internal wireless card. Don't use the "Install" disk as 98 percent of consumer wireless Routers, adapters, etc, don't need it to "set it up". It just to use the extras they have. Just get the IP number and password from the manual to access the Adapter. Any web browser should work. Configure the computer as using Ethernet and then configure the Adapter. Just hook the Ethernet cable between the Adapter and computer and just configure it like you would any other wireless computer. If you already have a wireless computer it would be easier to use that one and just copy the settings over to it. Or just look at the router settings. Follow the manual instructions as each one is different. Basially, make sure DHCP is on and you spell the the "Network Name"(SSID), "Security/Encryption" (WPA/WPA2, etc) and "Password" EXACTLY. It is case sensitive.
An adapter that supports the Zero Configuration service
To configure a wireless Network Interface Card (NIC) manually rather than automatically, you can use the "Network Connections" window in Windows. Here, you can right-click on the wireless network adapter, select "Properties," and then modify settings under the "Networking" tab. This allows you to specify details such as the SSID, security type, and any necessary authentication credentials.
Yes, you may need to adjust some settings on your computer to connect to the internet using a DSL connection with a wireless USB adapter. Typically, you'll need to configure the network settings to recognize the DSL modem and ensure the wireless adapter is set up correctly with the appropriate SSID and password for the wireless network. Additionally, you might need to enter your ISP credentials in the modem's settings if required. Once configured, your computer should connect automatically when the wireless USB is plugged in.
