Most likely you have the Caps Lock key pressed. On conventional keyboards (not sure about lap-tops and other small devices) this is indicated by a lamp labelled "Caps Lock" in the top right corner. Simply press the Caps Lock key to turn it from ON to OFF (& vice versa). If that doesn't solve it, you may something odd set in one of the formatting menus.
