Motherboard: a big circuit board where everything is connected.

Hard Drive: a form of digital storage where magnetic disk platters inside the drive (usually 2 or 3) spin at 5,400RPM, 7,000RPM or 10,000RPM (WD Velociraptor) and is constantly being written on and read by a magnetic drive head. They are connected to the motherboard via SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) cables. Older drives use IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) cables.

CPU/Processor: A chip consisting of many electronic components (mainly transistors) and is connected to the motherboard. This is basically the brain of the whole computer.

RAM: Stands for Random Access Memory. Data is temporarily stored here to calculate things.

BIOS: Stands for Basic Input/Output System. This is a very basic chip which communicates with the software/OS to work.

Case: a box for the hardware to go in.

Graphics card: Is connected to your motherboard's PCIe or AGP slot. AGP is older.

Fans: cools various parts of the computer.

Optical drive: a laser reads CDs and DVDs in these drives. They spin the discs to read them. DVDs hold more than CDs.
