You will normally see two screens when the computer is booting... when you see the screen that begins to ID your hard drives - usually the second screen - hit DELETE- F8 or F3. to enter BIOS- then go down to BOOT- and select your start up device. Normally- if you want to start in safe mode this is possible by a cold/hard shut down- and again- F8 and F10 are the usual keys to enter "alternative statup" ie: "last known good configuration" Find the boot device you want to use---- use a startup disc- to erase and reload windows if all else fails. Your system registry may be corrupted.

You should just be able to plug the ipod into the different computer, and an option will appear that says, "transfer exsisting ipod onto thsi computer".
Try starting your computer in safe mode by pressing the F8 key at the beginning of the start up. Keep pressing it until it gives you the option to enter safe mode. From there you should be able to fix the problem.

A normal stock computer will not be able to even start up without RAM, since it won't pass the POST.
A Pentium 4 processor is more advanced because it is faster and able to do much more complex calculations. It will, however, be superseded by a more advanced processor eventually.
If the drive is corrupted, chances are that you wont be able to get it working again, but it's worth a try to format it. If you're using a Windows OS, go to "My Computer", right click on the USB Icon and there should be an option to "Format". Click this option and a new window should pop open - click "Start" and this should begin the format process.
