Short for programmable read-only memory, a memory chip on which data can be written only once.
Once a program has been written onto a PROM, it remains there forever.
Unlike RAM, PROMs retain their contents when the computer is turned off.
The difference between a PROM and a ROM (read-only memory) is that a PROM is manufactured as blank memory, whereas a ROM is programmed during the manufacturing process.
To write data onto a PROM chip, you need a special device called a PROM programmer or PROM burner.
The process of programming a PROM is sometimes called burning the PROM.
PROM: Programmable Read-Only Memory
NO
PROM in medical terms means premature rupture of membranes.
Ram Rom PROM
PROM stands for programable Read only memory. it is a nonvolatile memory.
PROM is "Programmable Read Only Memory" RAM is "Random Access Memory" Prom is used to retain data even when the computer is turned off. RAM is used by the computer to run applications when the computer is running. RAM is high speed memory that can be read/written while the computer is running. Applications and data are loaded into RAM every time your computer is turned on. PROM, ROM, EPROM are all versions of memory that typically contain the same data every time the computer is turned on.
In a ROM or E PROM chip on the motherboard.
what do you mean the bullet in computer terms
Nope
powertrain read only memory Programmable Read-Only Memory
It is called a prom. It snaps inside of the computer. If you turn the computer over and look at the back of it you will see 2 small screews that hold a small medal plate on the computer, remove that plate and you will see the prom. I think your computer is in behind the dash. Remove the inside of the glove box and look in and down to the right and you will see it.
It depends what context you mean. In computing terms it's Programmable Read Only Memory.
