Data Series
Data Series
To read a chart, start by identifying the x and y axes and the units of measurement. Then, locate the data points or markers on the chart and analyze their position relative to the axes. Look for patterns, trends, or relationships between the variables represented in the chart. Finally, interpret the information and draw conclusions based on your observations.
A line chart or line graph is a type of chart which displays information as a series of data points called 'markers' connected by straightline segments. It is a basic type of chart common in many fields.
It could be a frequency chart.
Data Series.
The individual values that are on the chart itself are known as points or data points. A group of related values together make up a series.

A label helps you to identify the data series quickly (data series: Related data points that are plotted in a chart. Each data series in a chart has a unique color or pattern and is represented in the chart legend. You can plot one or more data series in a chart. Pie charts have only one data series.), you can add data labels (data label: A label that provides additional information about a data marker, which represents a single data point or value that originates from a worksheet cell.) to the data markers (data marker: A bar, area, dot, slice, or other symbol in a chart that represents a single data point or value that originates from a worksheet cell. Related data markers in a chart constitute a data series.) in a chart. To update data labels with changes that you make to corresponding data in the worksheet, or to display the text or numbers in worksheet cells in the data labels, you can link data labels to worksheet cells. If you no longer need data labels, you can remove them.
Flow charts. These are mainly used for programming design or to show simple processes, which may include decisions. They will be represented by a diamond shape.
A time series chart is good for showing data that occurs over a time interval, but the intervals between data points are not consistent. See related links for how to make a time series chart with Excel.
