A RAM stick, if you were able to look inside it, is arranged like a spreadsheet. 8 columns across and millions of rows. The reason it is 8 across is because data is sent 8 bits at a time...programs are placed in memory first come first serve. In the old days (1990), there was High-Memory and Low-Memory but that is no longer the case..hope this helps,
