If McAfee Security Suite has an anti spyware component then you will not need windows defender
Just to be on the safe side...yes you should turn windows defender off. The reason is because windows defender is comprised of three (3) programs. A anti virus, anti spy ware and anti maleware. In addition you cannot have two (2) anti virus programs running at the same time. They will conflict with each other and cause numerous windows errors. Furthermore If you are installing more protection I must assume you are not happy with defender? I suggest a little more research you'll find your later choice isn't all that good. Hope this helps
1. You might try this. Go to the main Windows Update window and click on "Installed Updates" (on the left-hand side of the window, at the bottom), and then remove "Update for Microsoft Windows (KB931099)" (only). Reboot. Reboot again. Go back to Windows Update, and re-install the same update, by clicking on the Check for Updates button. This should essentially re-install Windows Defender on Vista. 2. 1 Go to control Panel and click on Administrative tools. 2 Click on services and a new windows will appear. 3 Look up for windows defender and right click on it, click on properties and select automatic, it should be on manual, change it to automatic and click apply then o.k. and will take you back to the services windows. 4 Windows Defender should be highlighted and on the left hand side of the services windows, should be 2 links, click restart. 5 Close all windows and open Windows Defender, it should work without a problem and your popup window at start up will not be display any longer.
yes you should but it will be very protective but you wont have any visuress

You should buy an upgrade version of Windows Vista however your computer if running XP is likely not to be powerful enough to run windows vista. You should run Microsoft Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor before upgrading as this will show you any problems your computer may have running Vista.
compatibility mode
keep it closed the windows .but if need fresh air from outside , open the windows.

you could either uninstall it or disable it from running on start up to uninstall it is pretty simple, but if you want to keep it installed just in case, depending on your operating system (XP, Vista, 2000, etc.) you should be able to disable it in windows defender - tools > software explorer > start up programs
If you have a Windows 10 computer it comes with Microsoft Windows Defender Anti-Virus installed. After years of running other anti-virus, I was advised that I did not need it and that Microsoft's product was good enough. Just do some research on it as compared to other anti-virus programs.
The minimum amount of RAM you should be looking for in a new notebook running Windows 7 is 4 GB. You can read more information at compreviews.about.com/od/memory/a/Vista4GB.htm
Windows software generally should not have viruses - BUT - weaknesses in the OS are exploited by virus authors to attack computers running Windows OS.
