If your happy with the version you have now and the applications are staying updated then no reason to. The thing with Lion is if you have ANY PPC only applications, games, etc, they will not work in Lion. Apple no longer supports software for the PPC architecture. If the company's have up dated the applications to "Universal" then they work ok. Apple also dropped support for XP and Vista in Boot Camp, they only support installing Windows 7 now in Lion.
If you have any _i_ devices like the iPhone, iPod, or any of the other smart phones then Lion has add more support for the iOS type features, good for laptop users, bad for desktop users. Look into it before you make up your mind. If you do decide to upgrade then your computer is more then capable of running Lion.
Be aware tho, you need to upgrade to Snow Leopard (10.6) before you can upgrade to Lion as the only to get Lion is to download it, no more DVD's, and the only way to get the software to download it is in 10.6.
