(Sounds like battery is bad. When they get real bad they will drain the AC Adapter and might not power up at all)
So i don't use this laptop anymore due to the graphics card being broken in it.
However the other week i went to turn it on and i got a power light and the battery light come on. Nothing else, when i press the power button on the laptop the orange battery light goes out, and comes back on when the button is depressed.
I decided to leave it on charge and I've noticed that the laptop has to be fully charged and plugged in to power up.
But surely this shouldn't be the case. Can anyone help me please.

i bought a Sony Vaio almost a year ago. on the Vaio gate, which can start at start-up or activated by the right click on the desktop, has Skype on it. you can also find it on the control panel programs and features list.
The sony vaio laptops have a range of prices depending on what kind of features and memory you are looking for. The sony vaio laptop ranges in price from around $500 dollars and up.
I am very satisfied with my Sony Vaio Laptop. I am aware of no recalls for the product. Sony is up-to-date on its products. I will be glad to shop Sony in the future.
It's just what Sony decided to name there computers. It isn't a computer part or anything, its just a made up name.
The starting price of a Sony Vaio PCG is generally around $500 used or refurbished, but can range all the way up to $1000 depending on the condition and additional features.
A Vaio battery is powering up your electric unit. Without it it probably won't start. The battery will lose health after a while but you can replace it from the Sony store for a small fee. How long it will last depends on your habits and device/product.
Without knowing the model of your laptop, it's difficult to tell, but it seems that you may be missing a driver. Tell your brother to have a peek.
perfomance bot up to the mark of the other brand laptops in the same range

i have downloaded the drivers and when i attempt to install it says they cant recognize any hardware that it has drivers for. i tried uninstalling the old drivers but it wont let me, saying that i need them to boot up. the vaio website only has drivers from 2006, which i have already installed.
By all accounts the Sony Vaio Notebook is comparable to other similarly priced notebooks. But that's all it is--comparable. There is nothing in appearance or performance that makes it stand out from the pack. The Sony Vaio Notebook is appropriate for those that want a notebook for everyday normal use--it's definitely not for those who need high-speed, high-performance machines.
The Sony Vaio Lifestyle measures up at just: 4.8"L x 9.7" W x 0.8" H.
