A layout is the arrangement of placeholders on a slide. Choosing the arrangement is typically done in a systematic fashion for example chronologically. This can be done with a program or physically.

To change the arrangement of text box placeholders on a specific slide, you can use the slide layout options in your presentation software. Select the slide, then choose a different layout from the slide master or layout gallery that suits your needs. Alternatively, you can manually add, remove, or rearrange text boxes on that slide to create a custom arrangement. Remember to save your changes to ensure the new layout is applied.
On a master slide, the main types of placeholders include title placeholders, content placeholders, and image placeholders. Title placeholders are designed for slide titles, while content placeholders can hold text, charts, tables, or multimedia elements. Image placeholders specifically allow for the insertion of graphics or photos, ensuring consistent layout and formatting across all slides based on that master. Additionally, there may be placeholders for footers, date, and slide numbers.
It provides a listing of preset layouts from which to select when inserting a new slide in PowerPoint. Each of the 10+ layouts has a different arrangement of placeholders.
