The Cascade Mountains
The northward extension of the Sierra Nevada is called the Cascade Range. This mountain range extends from Northern California through Oregon and Washington into British Columbia, Canada. It is characterized by volcanic activity and features prominent peaks such as Mount Shasta and Mount Rainier. The Cascades are distinct from the Sierra Nevada, which primarily consists of granite formations.
