Two males.I had three rats a couple of months ago, and they were really sweet.Get them from the same breeder so they wont fight. It depends. Males are more laid back and more snuggly. They are content to just hang out being petted and fed all day long. They are the quinticential couch potatoes. However, males have a stronger odor (buck grease) and they are typically much larger. Also, males are more territorial and you have to be careful if you intro new rats to the collection (trust me, it is hard to have just two, I'm up to five). Females are a bit more active. They are more likely to play and hand wrestle with you but then will run off to find something else to do. They are smaller and a bit less pungent. They are also more likely to want to go off and explore and find things to build a nest with than to hang out with you all day long. Females are also more likely to get mammary and Pituitary tumors though that can be significantly reduced if they are spayed. Both are wonderful and you can mix them ONLY IF YOU GET THEM SPAYED AND NEUTERED. Never mix them unless you know for a fact this is the case or you will end up with a lot more rats.
