What are characteristics of a good email?

The same etiquette you place in a written letter are welcome additions in most emails, Salutations, Text body, and the line to be done. Emails are somewhat less personal (Other people's opinions not mine) and therefore can be a little more to the point.

Addition: Unless the e-mail is to a close friend, you should use standard English and not a lot of the latest buzz-words and 'yoof' styles of speech, so that a potentially unknown reader can understand them.

a good email address should at least have you name or nick name in it to help other people identify it if you should ever need to. it usually contains some numbers in it. your email address should not contain anything inappropriate or embarrassing. a rule of thumb is "dont put anything in your email that you wouldn't want other people to see." this is because you usually will, at some point or another, give it to someone so they can send you things. but the choice is completely yours. just make sure your happy with it.
