The original computers did NOT have:
1) Keyboards: Data and instructions were entered via punch cards.
2) Screen video output: Again, data came back via punch cards.
3) Data storage within the computer (hard disks, etc.:) You fed the date card in when they were needed.
4) Internal instruction storage (programs:) The whole processing unit was consumed with crunching numbers.
etc.etc.etc.
If you want to read a good book on the development of the computer see Dyson's "Turning's Cathedral." It is recently (last few months) published. PLZ Note: It's not a quick and easy read.
