There is no minimum or required number for USB ports on a laptop. Depending on the age and design of the laptop, it could be anywhere from zero to ten. I have seen only 2 USB ports on older laptops, most of the new ones atleast have 4 USB ports. Netbooks(10" & 11") have not more than 2 USB ports. If in anycase you need more USB ports, you could buy an USB hub for as less as 10$, which will add 4 more ports to your laptop.
it has three
if the Dell computer has USB ports, then all you would need is the USB-iPod cable and download/install iTunes. If you system is really old and only have serial ports (9-pin male ports) and no USB ports, then you would need to get a PCI USB card installed into your system. Do not use Serial-USB adapters, as they do not always work.

The Dell D520 does not have a dedicated printer port. It has 4 USB ports, any of which could be used to attach a modern printer.

This Panasonic Toughbook has 3 USB ports.
iPads do have usb ports. You just have to buy an adapter
Who told you it had no USB ports? Of course it has USB ports. The iMac has 4 USB ports, 1 Firewire port, 1 Thunderbolt port (2 on the 27" iMac), 1 Ethernet port.
Yes, it's. You have to purchase either a PCI wireless card (you will have to open the computer case to install it) or USB wireless adapter (which is easier to install, just put it one of usb ports).
A Dell Dimension 1100 has two USB 2.0 ports on the front and four USB 2.0 ports on the back. Therefore, you should look for an external hard drive with a USB 2.0 interface. USB 1.1 and 1.0 will work as well, but are much slower, so you probably won't want to use them.
