All computers have a motherboard. To this motherboard a CPU, RAM, graphics card, and harddisk are required. Optionally a sound card can be installed but it isn't required.
Keep in mind that most motherboards these days come with inbuilt sound and graphics.
These inbuilt components are usually of poor quality so if one desires better sound or a computer that runs games better it is necesary to buy these components seperately and plug them into the motherboard.
