First, CPU Cores. Speed is helpful as well but most good video software is multi-threaded and having a CPU with many cores which supports a robust instruction set at a good clock speed will significantly reduce your time for encoding/changing video.
Second, lots and lots of hard drive space on a FAST hard drive setup. This usually rules out Solid-State (SSD) disk drives since they tend to be limited on space. I would recommend a good, solid 7200rpm drive with a good seek time and, if you can afford it, a series of hard drives in a RAID array with a good controller to increase access and write/read time.
Those two things alone will help you more then any other. Of course a good video card is helpful. Professional series cards such as a FireGL or Quatro card. A large monitor with good color reproduction is a good investment as well. Viewsonic professional LCD's or Dell Ultrasharps have high marks.
Hope this helps!

The most important task of a computer technician is to diagnose and repair common problems with desktop PCs, laptops, and MACs. This professional strictly deals with the hardware components of a computer. Most of the work involves inspecting and repairing different parts of a motherboard such as RAM modules, power supply, wiring, hard drives, DVD drives, CPU, ports, hubs, and more. A computer technician is trained to find the right replacement parts that are compatible with the specific computer that is being repaired.
Which is more important, a car or the tires, engine, and transmission? Each of the components is useless by itself, and a car cannot do anything if it is missing its non-aesthetic components. Same goes for a computer.
