The positives of selective logging are that is it more aesthically pleasing (nicer to look at) than clearcutting. It also leaves a seed souce, slows and controls erosion, but it is expensive.
positives- furniture negatives- deforestation
It is difficult to monitor logging and detect illegal logging activities due to lack of manpower and remoteness of forested areas.
Nothin! Hehehehe:)
Gold is less valuable than Topsoil. Yet Gold is now valued more than Topsoil, and Forests. I'd rather ask "How does selective logging protect Forests?"

I think its vampire
· Selective logging is a method of cutting only selected trees. The trees that they cut down are usually one that has been marked by a forester (logger). This is better than clear cutting because selective logging only picks out one or two trees from an area. This is good because it leaves the unwanted trees unharmed and doesn't damage the ground.
Selective logging has several advantages, including the preservation of the overall ecosystem by maintaining forest structure and biodiversity, as only specific trees are harvested. It can also provide economic benefits to local communities through sustainable timber production. However, the disadvantages include the potential for increased damage to the surrounding environment during the logging process, which can lead to soil erosion and habitat disruption. Additionally, if not properly managed, selective logging can lead to overharvesting and depletion of certain tree species.
Selective logging : removal of certain trees in a stand as defined by specific criteria (species, diameter at breastheight, or height and form). It is analogous to high grading. Not to be confused with the selection silvicultural system.Selective logging will leave some trees standing, which allows for natural regrowth, less impact on the wildlife, and less ugly patches in the landscape.
Different methods of deforestation include clear-cutting, selective logging, burning, and bulldozing. Clear-cutting involves removing all trees in an area, while selective logging targets specific tree species. Burning is often used to clear land quickly, and bulldozing involves pushing trees over and uprooting them.
Clear cutting is a logging practice where all trees in a specific area are removed, while selective logging involves harvesting only certain trees while preserving the surrounding ecosystem. The positive aspect of clear cutting is that it allows for quick regeneration of certain tree species and can be more cost-effective. However, it often leads to significant environmental degradation, loss of biodiversity, and soil erosion. Selective logging is more sustainable and maintains ecological balance, but it can be more expensive and labor-intensive, potentially resulting in damage to remaining trees and habitats during the logging process.
logging, burning, clear-cutting, selective cutting.... I'm sure there's more though
