The five types of computer crimes are computer fraud, computer trespass, Theft of computer services, personal trespass by computer, and computer tampering or the dissemination of a computer by malware (virus, worm, trojan horse).

Computer fraud is when someone uses a computer or other electronic device to commit a particular offence like fraud, drug dealing, theft, espionage, pornography. All those crimes can also be prosecuted separately as well. When an individual accesses your computer or another type of computer without your consent or illegally accessing government computers it is known as computer trespass. Illegally taking property or services such as downloading music, or games and not paying for them is theft of computer services. Personal trespass by computer is also illegal; this means stay off your ex-girlfriends Facebook account, that's HACKING and its illegal! Any time you use a computer or anything that can help you hack into an account that is not yours you are trespassing. This goes for government and business accounts too. If you get bored at work and go snooping into someone files because they are open, you need to find something else to do. Computer tampering has four elements. If you 1) insert a program into a computer-2) knowing it will or thinking it will- 3) contain a program/file/command 4) that will create a loss of commands or information. Any program or command that contains information that causes damage or as a result any computer thereafter or any computer that it accesses or sends to that may suffer damage to or if it will destroy the computer or any or its data or limit or prevent access to or from a computer or data file.
