Other computer freezes may have other causes such as overheating of the CPU because the CPU fan is failing, power supply problems, failing hard drives, and operating system problems.
In Windows, there is the Event Viewer. That is where you can find system errors. You can try copying the text in the errors and search them on the web for possible solutions. A few of the events listed may even tell you how to fix them.
It also depends on what you are using when you experience lockups. If it is in the browser, you may need to reinstall the browser, or you may need to reinstall JAVA or Flash. In rare cases, you may need to find a JAVA or Flash remover before reinstalling those components.

When you bought your camera, there should be a CD. Just put your CD in your computer and there should be an easy setup. I, for one, did not do this and without thinking, I just plugged my camera in without the CD. DO NOT do this for the first time. Make sure you put the CD in first or else your computer will freeze up and it'll cost you a lot of money to fix it.
There are a variety of reasons your computer may freeze. You could always start by clearing your "cache". Under tools at the top of your screen click on Internet options and delete your temp files, cookies etc. Depending on your computer windows program and virus you could clean and check for your virus' as well. There is a cleaner for windows xp called ccleaner you can get that at ccleaner.com Try that. Also, cleaning up your disk and defragmenting may help speed it up as well. Clearing up unwanted programs and files that bog your computer down may help. If it continues to freeze up you will have to take it in and have it looked at it could be a virus or your motherboard.
