In computer-aided drafting, it means Drawing Exchange Format
DXF is an AutoCad program file and to open it you would need AutoCad program or search the net for'dxf file' and find a program to convert dxf to another common windows graphics format.
DXF - This is not really an AutoCAD format but an industry standard, but one that you should be aware of. DXF stands for Drawing eXchange Format. This is a very standard format that is used but many different CAD and graphics programs. This allows users to exchange drawings even if they don't have the same program. When you use the DXF format, some objects may change their appearance when re-opened. As with DWG formats, DXF formats vary from different releases. You have the option of saving the files as a DXF or you can use the DXFOUT command, conversely DXF Files can be imported using the DXFIN command.
DXF represents "Drawing Exchange Format." It is a format for computer-aided design files, developed by Autodesk. The CAD program AutoCAD uses its own native file format, DWG; DXF is intended to be a sort of imitation of DWG.
Yes, there is a free on-line site that you can convert CorelDraw files into DXF autoCAD files. It is called www.filespazz.com you will receive results within 5 minutes of your file up load.
For Microstation usersYou can use the saveas to get DWG/DXF from DGNYou can also use the "File --> export --> DGN, DWG, DXF" to get DXF filesFor AutoCAD usersCommand: DGNIMPORTAvailable in AutoCAD versions:AutoCAD MAPAutoCAD 2006~2010AutoCAD LT 2008~2010For other AutoCAD users and non-AutoCAD usersGet a plugin or look for stand alone converters to convert DGN to DXF.
AutoCAD DXF was created in 1982-12.
GstarCAD can export: DWG, DWF, PDF, WMF, BMP, EMF, SVG and OCF file formats. You can also open and save DXF, JPEG, TIF, PNG, GIF file formats.
I would highly recommend googling free dxf files. The free dxf.com website has lots of free high quality DXF files available for immediate download as well as themed product kits that include cut ready DXF files for purchase. The dxf files are designed specifically for cnc cutting systems like, plasma, water jet, laser, routers and vinyl cutters.
That depends entirely on who did the modelling...By and large the dwg and dxf files might be bette as they might be the original used for manufacturing but if you are going to view an object in a 3D viewer they might look just horrible while an obj or flt might look fine
Two methods: Open a DGN file in Misrostation V8 and.... # File --> Saveas --> Select format to save: AutoCAD drawing files (*.dwg) # File --> Export --> DGN, DWG, DXF --> Select format to save: AutoCAD drawing files (*.dwg)
The file extensions are: .dwg .dxf .dwf .dng and many image files, like jpeg, gif, pdf, tiff, tga, .eps, and so forth. (As inserts)
Method 1. If you have a commercial license (not educational)you are warned that it is an educational version. 1. Open the file. 2. Save as 2000 DXF (don't change name). 3. Close the file (important). 4. Select NO when asked to save as 200X DRAWING. 5. Open the DXF (plotstamp's gone). 6. Saveas, automatically switches to a drawing and overwrites the plotstamped drawing. Method 2. Plot on large paper and cut off the plotstamp margin.
