The Alignment tab in the Format Cells dialog box contains the options for wrapping text and rotating text in Excel. It allows you to customize how text is displayed within a cell.
Cells themselves cannot be rotated. The content in a cell can be rotated. This can be done through the Orientation option, which is one of the alignment settings. Press Ctrl - 1 and you can get to the Format Cells dialog box and you can then go to the Alignment tab where you can do it.
In Excel 2007 it's at Home/Alignment. If you open the dialog box by clicking the button at the lower right of the Alignment area then click the Alignment tab at the top, you'll see the Orientation settings at the upper right. You can also get there by typing hfqm while holding the Alt button.
Press Ctrl - 1 to open the Format Cells dialog box. Go to Alignment and in there you will find the orientation setting. You can use it to change the angle of the text.
Horizontal alignment is the positioning of content in the cell across, like to the left, right or centre. Vertical alignment is the position of the content from the top of the cell to the bottom of a cell. If a cell is increased in height over its usual setting, then the vertical alignment can be used to position content at the top, middle or bottom of a cell. Both vertical and horizontal alignment can be done on the Alignment tab in the Format Cells dialog box. Pressing Ctrl-1 will open it.
