a graduate of St. John's, B.A. 1857, M.A. 1868, and a cleric.He was ordained deacon 21 September 1834 at Buckden (Lincoln), and priest 20 September 1846 in the parish church of St. Michael, Cambridge (Ely). In 1837 he acted as Pro Proctor. In June 1838 he was appointed to the sinecure Barnaby Lecturship in Philosophy at the Congregation. For a time he acted as curate to the Rev. Patent # 2647: to Alfred Earnshaw and George edward earnshaw, both of Sheffield, in the county of York, Merchant's Clerks, and Frederic Earnshaw, of Harrinton-street, in the county of Middlesex, Banker's Clerk, for the invention of "a new or imporved mode of and apparatius for comparing musical keys, and for examining and explaining musical relations and harmonies, chords, and consonances."
I have one of these that was found in a old sea chest that was marked Earn Line Steam Ship Company.
