Hiding some content of a full sheet or workbook can make it easier to find the most important data. To hide a row, select the row or column that you want to hide. On the Format menu, point to either Row or Column, and then click Hide.

Most often the reason for hiding a row or column is for clarity of display. For instance, when I was using Excel to collect and process data from a group of colleagues, I would hide columns for three reasons:

1. There was often a large amount of data on each row which I didn't want to discard, but which was not relevant to the data collection task. I hid these columns so users had a simple, uncluttered screen and didn't have to scroll across constantly.

2. I could hide data from previous years for the same reason.

3. Sometimes the data handling algorithms required intermediate steps to make them work the way I wanted them to. Hiding these prevented confusion to the users.

All this made the screen easier to look at and enabled users to print out their data on a single sheet of paper.

What happens when you hide a column in Microsoft Excel?

The column disappears from view so you cannot see it. You will notice its heading is missing, so if column H was hidden you would see column G and then column I. The values in column H can still be used in the worksheet by referencing them in the normal way. Hiding columns can be useful for hiding data that you do not want to be seen or that you do not want users to change or that does not need to be seen. It can be used to put in supporting data to a worksheet rather than having it cluttering up the screen by being visible.

In the number 2543051 what is the place value of the digit 4?

The 4 is in the 5th column to the left of the decimal point (which is "hiding" after the ones digit) so it is in the 10000 column, the ten thousands column; the 4 represents 4 × 10,000 = 40,000 which is forty thousand.

What is difference between Delete and Hide Column in Excel?

Delete completely gets rid of a column. Columns to the right of it all move over. So if you deleted column D, column E would become column D. Hiding a column makes it disappear from view, but it is still part of the spreadsheet and can be hidden. If you hid column D, you would still see column C and to the right of it would be column E. You can still use cells in columns that are hidden in formulas.

How many ones are in 8000?

There are 8000 ones in 8000. ------------------------ The ones column is the column before the decimal point - in this case the decimal point is hiding at the end of the number and the ones column is the last digit. The ones column contains a 0 therefore there are no ones in 8000 8000 is eight thousands plus no hundreds plus no tens plus no ones.

Is true that hiding columns removes the data from the table?

Hiding columns in a table does not remove the data from the table; it simply hides the column from view. The data in the hidden columns remains in the table and can be unhidden at any time to display the data.

How many ones in 3826?

3826 ÷ 1 = 3826 However, I don't think that is the question you meant. I think you are asking for which digit is in the ones column. The ones column is the column to the left of the decimal point. If there is no decimal point visible, it is hiding after the last digit of the number which is the ones digit. Therefore the ones digit of 3826 is the 6.

As there is no decimal point, it is "hiding" after the last digit, the 2 (which is in the ones column) The greatest place value column that is used is occupied by the 1 which is 5 to the left of the decimal point → the 1 is 1 × 10⁵⁻¹ = 1 × 10⁴ = 10,000 (ten thousand)
