What does it mean when my computer hibernates?

its pretty much just putting it in standbye mode, which means everything will be the same when it turns back on. kind of like a more discrete log off. also it happens when your lapotop runs low on battery, it hibernates to save information and awaits a power supply.

The CPU internal and external clocks are stopped to save power and the CPU has been placed in a state that only an interrupt can get it out of and resume processing.
