The apple warranty basically covers any electronic apple product in the case of damage or malfunction. However, thief and some forms of hacking devices can void warrenties. If you lose an idevice, you could use find my iPhone/iPad to try and find it, but theft will not be replaced. So if you have jail broken your iPhone of iPad, that may void the warranty if the system starts to crash. However, if you jail read, you can easily reboot the idevice to factory settings or from a previous un-jail broken back-up. If you have any other questions, you should call apples customer service. I highly recommend it for any problem or question you have about apple. The service is fantastic. I hope this helps.
