Logical functions compare things and help Excel to make decisions. They generally return True or False values. The most important and commonly used one is the IF function. The other functions are often used in conjunction with it.
Logical functions are ones used for making comparisons and then using these to get the spreadsheet to do calculations. Logical functions result in TRUE or FALSE values. Some of the logical functions include:
IF
TRUE
AND
OR
NOT
FALSE
It usually means making some comparison, that will result in true or false. A classic example is when you are comparing the mark someone got in an exam to the mark needed to pass. So either it is good enough to pass or not. It results in a true or false situation. So for example, the mark was in cell A2 and the pass mark is 40, you could use an IF function to show if they have passed or not. The first part is the logical test, as follows:
=IF(A2>=40,"Pass","Fail")
The logical test will check if the mark is greater than or equal to 40. If it is, or in other words if it is true, then it prints the word Pass, otherwise it will print the world Fail.
A logical function is one that can return a true value or a false value. They are usually used in doing comparisons and seeing if things are equal to each other or not, or which is higher or lower. The logical functions that Excel provides are: TRUE FALSE AND OR NOT IF
They are under the category of Logical Functions.
348, at my count
You could not really classify formulas into types as the amount of formulas are infinite and you can have a variety of things happening in a formula. Functions come in categories, and that is maybe what you mean. It will depend on which version of Excel you have, but these are the categories available in later versions: Cube functions Database functions Date and time functions Engineering functions Financial functions Information functions Logical functions Lookup and reference functions Math and trigonometry functions Statistical functions Text functions
Yes it does.
Functions are basically built-in formulas in Excel. They are used extensively in Excel, so it is very important to know how to use them.
Functions allow you to perform some mathematical or string procedures to other cells.
