Same as the Power On Self Test, but less thorough (and thus faster)

Checks to ensure all components are baseline functional. POST is not necessary today except to initialize and power-on devices, since flaws are not often detected by a POST test unless they are very severe or blatant (IE, missing)

Quick POSTS just check that they're there, initialize, and boot.

Normal POSTS also count RAM, check CPU function, check storage device I/O, boot and test the VGA BIOS, etc.
