The transmission range sensor is typically a small, cylindrical or rectangular device, often featuring electrical connectors and may have a plastic or metal housing. It is usually located on or near the transmission assembly, often mounted on the side of the transmission case. Its position allows it to accurately detect the gear position and communicate this information to the vehicle's control module. In some vehicles, it may also be integrated with the transmission control unit.
If you have the 42RE transmission like I do, there is a picture located here along with a brief description on removing it, it is located on the drivers side right about the transmission fluid pan.
I think the transmission range sensor is also known as a neutral safety switch. The problems it can cause are some of your electronics on the car not working when you shift out of park. Like your windows and raidio.
You wont like it, but it is located in transmission. Transmission has to be lowered or removed to access.

Yes, the transmission range sensor (also known as the neutral safety switch) on a Ford Taurus can prevent the transmission from going into gear. This sensor ensures that the vehicle is in the correct gear position (like park or neutral) before allowing the engine to start or the transmission to engage. If the sensor is faulty or misaligned, it may incorrectly signal that the transmission is in the wrong position, thereby preventing gear engagement.
looks similar to the camshaft sensor, but it's located in the bell housing on the transmission on passenger side.
The speed sensor is located on the transmission near the axle on the passenger side and lot of times the sensor gets corroded or the wires disconnect. If the wires and sensors look like they are in decent shape then most likely it is just a faulty sensor
the crank potion sensor is located under the front end of the car directly in front of the transmission. Actually when you look at it, it almost looks like it goes in to the trans.
I believe that will be behind the transmission , you can see it from the engine compartment, behind, near the firewall down passed the rear spark plugs. It looks like the pig tail for the alternator( looka similar) but it is located behind the transmission. If it is the sensor that tells you how fast you are going, this is it.
Well, isn't that a happy little question! The speed sensor on an Opel Corsa Utility 1.7 DTI is usually located on the transmission. Just like painting a beautiful landscape, take your time and gently explore around the transmission area until you find it. Remember, there are no mistakes, just happy little accidents!
The crankshaft sensor is located at the back of the engine (4.0), and just above the bellhousing for the transmission. It is on the drivers side, and i believe it has a yellow cover on it. i may not be remembering it correctly, but it seems like its yellow.
what year, model? If its like mine, its located on the front exterior of the transaxle below the cooler lines and speed sensor.
