What is a Gigabyte and Terabyte?

They are all different types of units of memory or data, a megabyte is 1024 kilobytes, a gigabyte is 1024 megabytes and a terabyte is 1024 gigabytes. This means there are 1073741824 kilobytes in a terabyte ;-)

These are size references regarding data within a computer system. This could be data stored, sent, or received within the computer. A bit is the smallest unit and goes up from there. 1 byte could be a character. The letter "a" for example.

• 8 bits (represented with a lowercase b) = 1 byte (represented with an uppercase B)
• 1024 bytes = 1 Megabyte (MB)
• 1024 Megabytes = 1 Gigabyte (GB)
• 1024 Gigabytes = 1 Terabytes (TB) and so on.

Why 1024 and not 1000? Because of the binary math is the simplest answer, so two to the tenth power (2^10).
