What is a good gaming laptop for under 1000?

Answer 1

This is a subjective question and really depends on what you are looking for. Are you looking for something for gaming? Will the laptop be used primarily for business? The best place to get a general idea of what others are buying is Amazon's Best Sellers list for laptops. The link has been provided below.

For basic computer use, e-mail, internet, maybe light video streaming a modern netbook will do fine, they range from 250-500.

For DVD/BlueRay, light gaming and heavy duty office work something a little heftier will be needed, a dual core or better based laptop, with at least 2GB of RAM a decent screen and a good warranty can be had for as little 350 before warranty cost.

For heavy duty gaming 500 will probably be too lean to cover what you would need. A lot of RAM, a fast CPU, and a high-end graphics chip are must haves.

Local retailers can help point you to models off the shelf, Fry's is a very good option, or you can surf the web for some of the manufacturer's sites, Dell is very good, Acer, Toshiba, Gateway, HP/Compaq, Sony, etc.
