TSP is Tri Sodium Phosphate. It is a white crystalline powder that is sold in paint, hardware and home stores. Painters use it to clean walls before painting. Wonderful for removing rancid oils from massage sheets. It is an excellent grease remover and can be combined with bleach to clean decks or to disinfect as you clean. It is quite non toxic to chemically sensitive individuals, as it has relatively no scent. It does leave a residue, so rinsing is recommended. Gloves are a must for using it, as it will remove all the oil from your skin.

It was used many years ago as a whitening agent in laundry detergents, but was removed because it's extensive use had a detrimental effect on the environment. Use hot water and stir, as it needs a little help to dissolve well. A little goes a long way.

Do not soak jewelry in it as it can corrode metal if left for some time in it. Painted objects such as heat registers may shed their paint if soaked for long periods of time. TSP Free products do not contain TSP and do not clean as well.
