propriety license
The EULA (End User License Agreement) is a document that explains that the one who purchased or otherwise obtained the software is not the owner of the product but is only allowed to use it in the manner described in the EULA.
It may indicate the number of machines where it may be installed, what else is allowed to be done with it (make a backup copy), what may not be done with it (redistribute copies to others), a disclaimer of liability for undesirable results from the software whether misused or used as intended, and more rules, mostly restrictive.
The EULA type of license is common for proprietary computer programs but similar licenses existed for other products. One example is the Sodastream cylinder license which states the CO2 cartridge remains the property of the manufacturer and may only be used as intended by the company.

AnswerEnd-User License Agreement (EULA)
EULA is an agreement in which an end-user agrees that the software copy being delivered is not being purchased but rather licensed for a limited use and a limited time and cannot be transferred to anyone else without permission. It is certainly possible to have terms in an EULA that far exceed the protections provided by the copyright law, including restrictions on when and where some copyrighted program can be used or displayed.
