They can be employed in a wide range of applications: Radios, Voltohmeters(!), Theatrical strobe lights (admittedly a special type), Compositor Machines and c.l935-70"s old style Dial Phones all are believed to have used vaccuum tubes as did phonographs, amplifiers, juke boxes, and somewhat oddly, and don"t askl me what for-Compositor Machines. ======================= Vacuum tubes are still preferred in many applications for audio and musical instrument amplifiers. They handle high power and many people feel they sound better when they are pushed to distortion--guitar players often use this effect.
