A style is a pre-defined combination of formats. For a cell, this can include the colour of the cell, the number formatting, the text alignment, the font formats, borders etc. You can modify existing styles to suit your needs.

It does not multiply the cell by anything. The cell just appears in percentage format, but the value is not changed. It may appear to be multiplied by 100, but that is only because 1 = 100%.

The Percent style button is used to convert a cell entry into a percentage format by multiplying the value by 100 and adding a percentage symbol. It essentially multiplies the value by 100 and displays it with a percentage sign.
