It could refer to the 1/2" Semi Rigid Coax cable that Ferranti once used for their "Broadband" Local Area Network systems that got installed in some office building and in manufacturing environments during the early 80s. This cable is also known as CATV (of USA origins?). If my memory serves me correctly, there was an armoured version of the cable.
