Depends on the application. If you are doing alot of multitasking (running many programs at once) then a multi-core will be a good option. CPU clock speed is relative in this because it is common knowledge that a good dual core processor can outperform quad cores in gaming at times. This is because most games out now do not utilize the 4 cores. So in conclusion it really depends on what you want to do. For gaming, a dual core is a good option, for heavy multitasking a 4 core may be good for you.

Why is it important to know the speed of a processor?

It is of no importance at all to the average computer user. All it tells you is the clock that the machine runs on and there are many other variables (both hardware and software) that affect the actual performance of the computer in actual use on real world problems. Without accounting for these variables, processor speed will be very misleading. For many people processor speed is important as a "boasting number" so that they can claim to be better than another person!

Why is it important to know the processing speed and measurement when buying a computer?

There is more to it then that. Some processor's that have a speed of 3.0GHz can process less data then one that is 1.7 GHz. To answer your question, because you could spend a thousand dollars and get a slower computer then one for 700.00.

What is T6600 in a computer processor mean?

It's the model number.

How do you measure processor speed?

Processor speed is typically measured in gigahertz (GHz), which represents the number of clock cycles a processor can execute per second. Higher GHz values generally indicate faster processing speeds. However, it's important to note that other factors, such as the number of cores and the efficiency of the processor architecture, also play a role in determining overall performance.

How does a prossesor work?

A processor is the "brain" of a computer, responsible for executing instructions. It fetches instructions from memory, decodes them into control signals, and executes them by performing arithmetic, logic, and other operations. The processor's performance is influenced by factors like clock speed, number of cores, cache size, and architecture.

What is the fastest computer chip?

Most people will tell you that it is impossible to answer this. First of all, there is no notion of "fastness" in computer chips. You may be asking about the highest clock speed on a processor, but that number means little by itself when it comes to performance (which is the important factor). Second, if you were to ask about the best performing processor, then you need to devise some fair way of measuring the performance of each. And finally, even if you could definitely say which chip is faster or better between a pair of chips, the "fastest" or "best" would change constantly, and so asking something like this has little meaning.

What is the speed of a computer?

The speed of a computer is a lot of things. The speed is how fast your computer can get data off your Hard Drive, How much Ram or Memory you have, and how fast your processor is. Most people say that the speed is the number on the processor. But That is not always true.

What exactly is the GHz mentioned with a processor configuration is it most important factor to processor speed?

The GHz is the clock frequency. It is important for processor speed but the number of kernels is even more important as each kernel can do processing independently from the others.

How does the number of lines in the data bus affect the performance of a computer?

An address bus carries address information. It is important because the number of lines in it tells the maximum number of memory addresses. It balances speed.

WHAT IS PROCESSING POWER?

Your computer's central processing unit (CPU), also known as a processor, can be thought of as the brain of the computer. Fast processors typically offer better performance than slower processors, and they are especially useful for running multimedia programs, such as games or audio and video editing programs.A computer's processor speed describes the maximum number of calculations per second the processor can perform, and is given in megahertz (MHz) or gigahertz (GHz). Generally, the larger the number, the faster and more powerful the processor.Under System, you can view the processor type and speed, as well as the number of processors installed, if your computer uses multiple processors.Older computers and some netbooks still have speeds in MHz (Megahertz). These speeds may be doubled if the computer has more than one processor, or the processor has 2 or more cores. To find out the speed of your computer running windows,Open System by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System. For Mac users, click the Apple logo and click "About This Mac".

What is a processor card and what does it do?

At the heart of every computer is one or more processors. While some hand held devices like mobile phones have the processor fixed to the main circuit board there are computers that allow you to change the number and speed of the processors in the computer. This versatility is done by fixing the processor to a business card sized card. This card is called a processor card

How do I figure out what type of Processor is on my computer?

Check the manufacturer's Web site where you bought it and enter in your model number.
