A network partition occurs when a network is divided into separate segments that cannot communicate with each other, often due to failures or configuration issues. This can lead to a situation where some nodes in the network can still operate normally while others become isolated. In distributed systems, network partitions can cause inconsistencies and challenges in maintaining data integrity, as different parts of the system may operate under different states or information. Addressing network partitions is crucial for ensuring the reliability and consistency of services.
If you are partitioning a node on a fully connected network. You must disconnect it from the rest of the network by disconnecting all the wires to the node.
