Text data is just words type into cells. On any spreadsheet you will have lots of numbers. In order to know what the numbers actually mean, you'll have lots of headings in cells. So you could have a cell with the heading "Total" beside a total of some set of figures. Maybe the months of the year or days of the week, or the names of products you are selling are needed. You could have a list of names of people or places in a spreadsheet. So while there is mostly numbers in spreadsheets, there is also lots of text data too.

There is no reason why you cannot type that in. As there are letters in it, it will be treated by Excel as text.
One way would be to copy the data into a text file, using Notepad perhaps, and then save the file and open it with Excel. The text will then be in different cells. You could then copy that data back into the original Excel file.
