What is the bench period in TCS?

Bench is 'unutilised hands'. or Unallocated resources who have not been alloted work. they amount to zero income to the company. Many reasons can attribute to being in bench. If the reasons are either incompetence, or employees choice of projects, they sure can expect to go home permanently. Many employees have used these tactics over the years to make MATC (which handles allocations) hand them either onsite oppurtunities or their preferred projects. This trick might not work in the current situation. Going to the first question: - TCs bench ranges from 1 day to 5 months. Tcs normally sends employees home incase the bench length is too big. Bench time depends on the technology you have been ALLOTED. Other companies have almost same bench timings. I am not talking about product based companies.
