the highest your graphics card and monitor can handle
Yes. 720p is the lowest HD resolution and not the best but its better then VGA resolution.
640x480
what
No, a vga cable is not needed for the xbox 360. However if you would like to hook you xbox 360 to a computer monitor then you would want a vga cable.
VGA, a computer video output, cannot be converted to a composite (1 video wire) or component video (3 video wires) signal with just a cable. VGA can be much higher resolution than composite video. You will need a scan converter box to create the NTSC video signal.
VGA means a resolution of x = 640 to y = 480 pixel on displays/screens. A quarter of the VGA's resolution is called QVGA (Quarter VGA, 320x240 pixel).
In terms of the pin connections, a VGA and an SVGA cable are identical. Normally, the different description is intended to show that the SVGA cable is higher quality than a VGA cable. There are no standards in place to define the difference so a manufacturer's description of a cable as SVGA means very little. All VGA signals (VGA, SVGA, XGA, WXGA, UXGA etc) carry the same red, green and blue image information, but as the resolution of the image increases, so does the data rate for each of the colors. High resolution carried for a long distance demands a better cable than lower resolutions over short distances. Therefore, low cost, low spec cables will probably work just fine over a 5 foot length, even with high resolution images. Using a poor quality cable will show problems such as double images, smeared images and in extreme cases, no image at all. It is hard to establish the quality of cable before you try it, so as a guide, look at the diameter of the cable. The fatter the cable, the better the quality tends to be. It's not a guaranteed way to tell but it's one of the few checks you can make before investing in cables.
HDMI and VGA are both video interfaces capable of carrying computer display data to a monitor. HDMI is digital, VGA is analog. HDMI is NOT inherently better than VGA. Each will support a wide range of screen resolutions and it is the screen resolution and color depth that affect the image quality rather than the interface used. Choose a graphics card that supports the resolution you need and make sure it has the output you need to connect to your monitor.
DVI is the digital display standard for computer displays, so it is indeed a monitor cable. DVI provides similar resolutions to analog VGA cables when running LCD panels at their native resolution and normally avoid timing errors that can reduce the clarity of VGA signals in some cases. DVI can also support analog VGA signals on the same cable so before changing to a DVI cable make sure your monitor and computer both support DVI digital.
