RAM stands for Random Access Memory. Computer memory chips on the mother board are random access. Disks drives are mostly random access, in that the head can shift to the location of the data to be read. The memory is slightly sequential in that the head must wait for the tracks to spin beneath it before it can read them. An example of sequential memory would be a tape drive. The tape must advance or rewind to the next location where data is stored.

In a sequential file you must begin reading from the first record and continue reading until you find the data you seek (or until the end). In a random access file you can specify the number or key of the record you wish to read or write. Random access tends to be much faster for this reason.

What is the difference between sam and ram?

In RAM ,the access time is the same for any memory location.Semi-conductor IC chips and magnetic disks are random access memory. In SAM a particular memory word is accessed from the memory by going through all address locations until the desired address is found.Magnetic tapes are sequential access memory.

Difference between RAM nd RAM?

Do you mean the difference between RAM and ROM? If that is what you meant then ROM is what is used to read discs that are put into the computer, but RAM is used to temporarily hold memory from desktop and web based applications.

What is deffernce between virtual and physical memory?

The difference between virtual and physical memory is that virtual memory refers to memory space while physical memory are chips like RAM. The memory space for virtual memory is made by operating system when there is insufficient physical memory.

Physical difference between 128MB and 256MB Ram?

The main physical difference between 128MB and 256MB of RAM is the amount of memory chips present on the module. A 128MB RAM module will have fewer memory chips compared to a 256MB RAM module, resulting in the difference in capacity. These memory chips are responsible for storing the data and allowing the computer to access and use it when needed.

What was full name RAM?

Random Access Memory, as verses Sequential Access Memory (delay lines, magnetic tape, magnetic drum, magnetic disk, etc.)

What is the difference between ram and the ias?

RAM means Random Access Memory. It's a plugin in to the motherboard for the process to use temporary memory. IAS means Instant access store, It is on the processor chip itself.
