CD's are plastic and tend to be back-up storage, or media-based, as they are usually only capable of holding 700 mb's of storage. A hard disk is made of a metal alloy, has much faster reading/writing speeds (depending on the age of the drive, and whether it is IDE or SATA/SATA2/SATA3) and is capable of holding much larger quantities. Some exist out there that can hold 2TB of data. That's roughly 2,000GB, or 2,000,000MB. CD's are also easily removable, simply hit an eject button. Hard Drives require a full shut down.

Yes, a hard disk is much greater than a CD.
It is neither, CD DVD and hard disk is STORAGE not input or output.
No, it is an optical disc. A hard disk is defined as a device that stores data on spinning magnetic platters. Although a CD is 'hard' (rigid) as opposed to the flexible inside of a floppy disk, that does not classify it as a hard disk.
CD is better than harddisk because CD can be carried anywhere but hard disk can not
A CD is a small removable and portable plastic based disk with a thin layer of metal that reflects the laser that reads it. The hard disk is solid metal and spins inside a reader that uses a magnetic field to read the data. It is sensitive to damage and can easily be destroyed just by dropping it.
The difference between a CD Rom and a hard disk is that a CD Rom translates the information on CD's and discs. On the other hand, a hard disk stores data and useful information.
Data can be stored on floppy disk, hard disk, memory stick, CD or DVD.

It will first boot from CD if available and then from hard disk. If you need to install any operating system or want to boot from CD, you need to enable this option.
