acoustic is louder, bulkier and more natural sounding. electric is more compact and is played through an amp, and u can change the settings of the drum pads, such as a rock kit, a dance kit etc. acoustic looks better, and when u play electric, u can sometimes hear the sticks hitting the pads which sounds bad, so crank it up. acoustic for live shows, electric for practising at home. electric at its cheapest is more expensive then acoustic at its cheapest :)

How can you distinguish between a acoustic instrument and a sampled or synthesized instrument?

Acoustic instruments produce sound through natural physical means, such as vibrating strings or columns of air, while sampled or synthesized instruments generate sound electronically. You can often distinguish them by their timbre, as acoustic instruments have unique, complex overtones and subtle variations in tone due to their construction and playing technique. In contrast, sampled instruments may lack this nuance, sounding more uniform, and synthesized instruments might exhibit distinctive waveforms or effects that are characteristic of electronic sound design. Additionally, acoustic instruments typically respond more organically to dynamics and articulation, whereas sampled instruments may rely on pre-recorded sounds that can sound less expressive.

What is the difference between active and passive musical instrument?

Active musical instruments require an external power source to amplify their sound, such as electric guitars or synthesizers, which utilize pickups or electronic circuits. In contrast, passive musical instruments produce sound through natural acoustics without needing additional power, like acoustic guitars or violins. The primary distinction lies in the need for external amplification in active instruments versus the reliance on physical resonance in passive ones.
