There are three major types of computer; desktop, laptop (encompassing netbook, notebook, ultrabook etc) and tablet. A tablet cannot generally make phone calls or send text messages, although some apps can get around this limitation. Since the invention of smartphones, the distinction between a phone and a tablet is blurred, but in general, if it does not come with the ability to make calls or texts in its stock form, it is a tablet not a mobile phone.
