A folder is a container that holds files. A zipped folder is a folder or a group of files that have been compressed by a special program such as WinZip. WinZip is a paid compression program. 7zip is a free file compression program.
If it is a zip file then right click and click extract all. If it is another type you may need a program like 7zip to uncompress it.
